Your first visit at PVC takes about 45 minutes. Here is exactly what happens.
Before you come in
We email you a quick intake form. Fill it out at home. It asks about your medical history, current medications, vision history, and what brought you in. The more honest you are, the better we can help.
What to bring
Your insurance card. A list of medications. Your current glasses and contacts (if you wear them). Sunglasses for after the exam (we may dilate you).
The exam itself
1. Pre-testing — autorefractor, retinal imaging, intraocular pressure. About 10 minutes with our technician.
2. Doctor exam — vision testing, eye health evaluation with the slit lamp, dilated retinal exam if indicated. 25–30 minutes with the doctor.
3. Discussion — we walk you through what we found. If you need anything (glasses update, treatment, follow-up), we explain why and what your options are. If you do not need anything, we tell you that too.
What we will not do
Rush you out. Pressure-sell glasses. Suggest treatments you do not need. Skip the parts of the exam that take more time. Use jargon without explaining it.
