Glasses 101
Frames built around your face.
A great pair of glasses isn’t the brand on the temple. It’s how the bridge sits, how the temples grip, how the lens line meets your pupil — and whether you actually want to wear them every day.

Why frames matter
A frame is something you wear all day.
You take it off to sleep and to shower — the rest of the time, it’s on your face. So it has to fit your face, work for your prescription, and look like you. None of those is optional.
At Pine Vision Care we curate frames from independent designers and small Italian and Japanese workshops alongside the major brands. We don’t carry anything we wouldn’t wear ourselves.
And we don’t do "this style is on sale" upselling. We help you find the frame that actually fits.

Finding your shape
The six face shapes and what flatters them.
This is a starting point, not a rule. Half the fun of trying on frames is breaking the rule on purpose.
Oval face
Most balanced face shape — almost any frame works. Try a frame slightly wider than the broadest part of your face for a polished look.
Round face
Angular and rectangular frames add structure and definition. Avoid small round frames — they double down on the curve.
Square face
Round and oval frames soften strong jawlines. Look for frames wider than they are tall, with a slim profile.
Heart-shaped face
Bottom-heavy frames balance a wider forehead with a narrower chin. Aviators, cat-eyes, and rimless designs all work beautifully.
Diamond face
Cat-eye, oval, and rimless frames flatter narrow foreheads and chins with wider cheekbones. Look for frames that emphasize the eyeline.
Long face
Frames with depth and decorative temples add visual width. Avoid small frames — they can elongate the face further.
Material & fit
What your frame is actually made of.
Material drives weight, durability, and how the frame ages. Here’s what we stock and why.
Acetate
Plant-based plastic. Hand-polished, deep colors, warms to your skin. The best material for distinctive frames.
Titanium
Lightweight, hypoallergenic, nearly indestructible. The choice for everyday wear when you want the frame to disappear.
Stainless steel
Strong, thin, modern. Holds adjustments well and ages gracefully. A workhorse for minimalist frames.
Buffalo horn / wood
Rare and distinctive. Each pair is one of a kind. Worth it for someone who wants a frame nobody else has.
Why fit matters
A frame that fits disappears on your face.
The right frame sits without slipping, doesn’t pinch your nose, doesn’t squeeze your temples, and stays put when you look down. If you’re constantly pushing it back up, the frame doesn’t fit.
Most online glasses purchases fail on fit, not style. We hand-adjust every pair we sell — the bridge, the nose pads, the temple bend, the pantoscopic tilt. It’s the difference between glasses you tolerate and glasses you forget you’re wearing.
Already have frames you love? Bring them in. We can re-glaze them with new lenses, adjust the fit, and replace nose pads or temples to extend their life.

Frequently asked
Common questions about glasses.
How much should I expect to spend on glasses?
Honestly, anywhere from $200 to $1,500+ depending on the frame, the lens, and the prescription. We carry frames at every price point and we’ll always show you options before recommending the most expensive one.
Can you fit glasses for kids?
Yes. Kids’ frames need to be flexible, lightweight, and built to take a beating. We carry brands made specifically for kids — not just shrunken adult frames.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most major vision plans — see our insurance page for the full list. We’ll verify your coverage before your appointment.
Can I bring in frames I bought elsewhere?
Usually yes — we can re-lens most frames in good condition. We’ll evaluate them at your visit and tell you straight whether they’re a good candidate.
How long do glasses take?
Most pairs are back in 7–10 business days. Custom or specialty lenses can take 2–3 weeks. We’ll give you an exact timeline at the visit.
