Ortho-K

Clear vision while you sleep.

Specially designed contact lenses you wear overnight that reshape your cornea — wake up to clear vision all day, no glasses, no daytime contacts.

What's actually happening

Reshape the cornea. Wake up clear.

Ortho-K (orthokeratology) lenses are rigid gas-permeable contacts worn during sleep. They gently flatten the central cornea overnight, correcting nearsightedness so you don't need glasses or contacts during the day.

In kids, Ortho-K also slows myopia progression — which is why pediatricians and optometrists increasingly recommend it as a first-line option for nearsighted children.

Who Ortho-K helps

Sound like you?

01

Active kids

Sports, swimming, dance — daytime contacts and glasses get in the way.

02

Progressing myopia

Prescription has climbed every year. Ortho-K slows that.

03

Wants out of contacts

Daily contacts feel like a chore. Sleep in lenses, wake up clear.

04

Not a LASIK candidate

Too young for surgery, or your cornea is too thin. Ortho-K is reversible.

05

Dry eye sufferers

No daytime contacts = no contact-related dry eye.

06

Mild-to-moderate myopia

Best results for prescriptions up to -6.00 with mild astigmatism.

How it works

Sleep in lenses. Don't think about it again.

Every Ortho-K fit starts with corneal topography — a detailed map of your cornea's shape. From there, we design lenses custom to your eye, not off the shelf.

You wear them for 8 hours overnight. Remove in the morning. Most patients have functional vision by day 1, and full correction by day 7–10. The effect is reversible — stop wearing them, your cornea returns to its original shape.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Is Ortho-K safe for kids?
Yes. Ortho-K has 20+ years of safety data in pediatric patients and is FDA-approved for overnight wear. We start most kids around age 7+.
How long do results last?
Each night's wear gives you clear vision through the next day. Stop wearing — your cornea returns to baseline within days.
Will my child eventually need glasses?
Most patients have functional vision without correction within a week. Some need a small prescription for evening / fatigue.
Is it covered by insurance?
Most vision plans cover the exam but not the lenses. Some FSA/HSA accounts cover lenses. We discuss costs upfront.
How is this different from regular contacts?
Regular contacts correct vision while you wear them. Ortho-K reshapes the cornea so you don't need correction during the day.
