Cataracts

Cataract care — with your doctor.

Cataract surgery is performed by an ophthalmologist. But pre-op evaluation, IOL selection, and post-op care should stay with the doctor who knows your eyes. That's us.

How co-management works

Same doctor before and after. Different one during.

Cataract surgery is a 15-minute outpatient procedure done by an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon). But the months of pre-op evaluation, IOL choice, vision goals, and post-op follow-up don't need to be with the surgeon.

We co-manage with trusted local cataract surgeons. You see us for the work-up, see them for surgery, and come back to us for everything after. One relationship, smoother experience.

When to book a cataract evaluation

Sound familiar?

01

Vision is foggy

Like looking through a dirty windshield. Worse in low light.

02

Halos around lights

Driving at night is harder. Oncoming headlights bloom.

03

Frequent prescription changes

Your glasses keep needing updates — and they help less each time.

04

Glare bothers you

Sunlight, lamps, even computer screens feel overwhelming.

05

Reading is harder

Especially in dim restaurants or evening light.

06

Doctor mentioned it

Your last exam flagged early cataracts. Now's the time to start tracking.

How we co-manage

Diagnose first. Refer last.

Every cataract evaluation starts with a comprehensive exam plus IOL Master measurements — precise calculations of your eye for the artificial lens that will replace your natural one. We talk through monofocal, multifocal, and toric IOL options based on your lifestyle.

When you're ready for surgery, we refer to one of two trusted local ophthalmologists. After surgery, you come back to us for post-op care, prescription updates, and ongoing eye health.

"They explained the IOL options in language I actually understood. Surgery went perfectly. Post-op care was with the doctor who'd been seeing me for years. Couldn't have asked for better."

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

When should I start the cataract conversation?
When vision affects daily life — driving at night, reading, work. There's no rush, but earlier discussion means a better plan.
Will I still need glasses after surgery?
Depends on IOL choice. Monofocal usually requires reading glasses. Multifocal/EDOF can reduce or eliminate need for glasses.
Is cataract surgery covered by insurance?
Medicare and most major insurance cover standard cataract surgery + monofocal IOL. Premium IOLs are usually out-of-pocket.
Why not just see the surgeon directly?
You can. But surgeons are scarce; co-management means faster access for pre/post visits and continuity with your primary eye doctor.
Which surgeon do you refer to?
We work with two trusted ophthalmologists in the area. We'll match you to the right one based on your case.
