Founded Pine Vision Care to build the kind of practice she wanted to work in. One where the doctor explains what they’re seeing in your eyes before recommending anything. Over a decade of clinical experience across primary care, specialty contacts, and disease management.
Earned her OD at Salus University in 2015 and completed her residency at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Sees patients at both Philadelphia and Newtown Square locations.

Dr. Caitlin Somerville
OD · Comprehensive eye care
Dr. Caitlin Somerville brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for eye care to our practice. With a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry from West Chester University, Pennsylvania, Dr. Somerville’s foundation in science is both solid and comprehensive. She furthered her education with a Doctorate of Optometry from the esteemed New England College of Optometry in Boston.
Dr. Somerville’s diverse clinical experience includes externships at the Manchester NH VA, the Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury MA, the Philadelphia VA, and Total Eye Care Centers in Levittown PA. This extensive background equips her to offer a full range of optometric services — from thorough adult and pediatric eye exams to the treatment and management of ocular diseases, and fittings for both soft and specialty contact lenses.
Outside the clinic, you’ll often find her training for marathons, hiking, or enjoying quality time with her beloved dog, Henry.

Dr. Emme Gilchrist
OD · Comprehensive eye care
Dr. Emme Gilchrist provides individualized, comprehensive eye care with an emphasis on long-term eye health and helping patients feel confident in their vision. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. She went on to attend Southern College of Optometry, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
During her training, Dr. Gilchrist completed externships concentrating on ocular disease, contact lens care, and low vision services. Her final rotation brought her to Philadelphia, where she ultimately decided to put down roots. From an early age, she dreamed of becoming an optometrist, drawn to the profession for its unique blend of medical care and meaningful patient relationships.
Comfortable with school-age children through adults. For infants and toddlers, we refer to a pediatric ophthalmology partner. When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Gilchrist loves practicing yoga, discovering new restaurants (Kalaya is a current favorite), and spending time with her fiancé and her two dogs.
